"Pupils behave well. They play happily together and consider each other’s needs very well.""Parents are right to be pleased with the quality of teaching at the school.""Pupils learn well because the work they do provides good levels of challenge and helps them learn new skills.""There is a happy and purposeful atmosphere in classrooms.""The curriculum supports pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development effectively.""Pupils get off to a good start in early years."

The academy has a Local Governing Board (LGB) that has delegated responsibilities from the Trust Board of Directors as outlined in our Scheme of Delegation. Whilst responsibilities are delegated, the Trust has overall accountability.

The school is lucky to have a committed and enthusiastic local board of governors. Governance is a key feature of an effective school and our governing body are constantly challenging themselves to make sure that the service the school offers is the best that it can be. If you would like to know more about their work you can contact the Chair of Governors via the school office or at rowen@greensnorton.org.uk.

From the 26th September there will be a new governance structure in place.  Our academy will have an Academy Governance Committee (AGC) that has some delegated responsibilities from the Trust Board of Directors as outlined in the Trust’s Scheme of Delegation.  They will engage with our local community.  They will not hold the academy to account but will carry out the following role:

Vision and Values

  • Agree the vision and values for the academy with reference to the SIAMS Schedule, in partnership with the academy community, ensuring they are aligned with the Trust’s Vision and embracing equality.
  • Monitor that the vision and the values are being ‘lived out’ in all aspects of the life of the academy.

Richard Owen – Co-opted (Chair of Governors)

I have been a Governor since September 2014, originally as a Parent Governor, and now as a Co-opted Governor.  I am the designated Governor responsible for Information Technology and use my knowledge of the sector to assist the school in ensuring the systems made available to pupils are up-to-date and cost-effective.  I am also a member of the Finance & Personnel, and Estates & Facilities sub-committees where my work role as a director of a not-for-profit company has been of assistance.  I have two children who presently attend the school and I hope to help the other Governors and senior school staff in ensuring the school continues to improve the progress of all pupils.

Francesca Burns – Vice Chair of Governors

I joined the Governing Body in July 2013 and really enjoy the role. I sit on two sub-committees, the Finance and Personnel Committee and the Teaching and Learning Committee.  I am the designated Numeracy Governor and also the Governor linked to the Parent Forum. I have two children attending the school in years 2 and 3 and decided to become a Parent Governor as I strongly believe every child has the right to receive the best possible education.  I have previously worked in Learning and Development and Audit and hope that my various skills are of help to the school and the Governing Body with its continuous journey.

Louisa Woods – Foundation Governor

I joined the Governing Body in July 2015. I help organise and run a preschool group of children with their parents/carers once a week in St Bartholomew's. I am keen to grow a strong connection between the school and the church to develop a good community spirit that embeds a happy, moral ethos in the heart of Greens Norton School.

Darrel Ince

My name is Darrel Ince and I have lived in the village for the past 30 years. I have three children who have all attended the school. I am currently a Professor of Computing at the Open University but, more importantly for the school and Greens Norton, I am editor of the Greens Norton News.

Sarah Mills

I joined the Governing body in January 2019. Since that time I have been asked to take up the roles of lead for Safeguarding and Pupil Premium. I currently work in Education as Head of Education Entitlement for Coventry City Council, my portfolio encompasses Looked After Children, Hospital Education, Exclusions, Admissions, Pupil Referral Unit plus many other traded elements of our service, Music, Outdoor Education, Attendance to name a few. I have previously held positions in Northamptonshire County Council as the Admissions and School Place Planning Manager, Brooke Weston Trust Academy  as Operations Manager and Campion School as Administration and Cover Manager. Since taking up my role as Governor, I have continued to learn from the Senior Leadership at the school and have found the role rewarding in terms of supporting and challenging the staff to ensure we are delivering the best education we are able to the children attending Greens Norton school.

Ruth Fox

Joining as a co-opted governor, I am enjoying getting to know the school. I work with different types of organisations, including government departments, helping them design, plan and deliver change. I hope to contribute towards and support the school leaders and staff in providing the best possible education to all its pupils.
