PSHE
At Greens Norton, we are committed to nurturing the personal development, emotional wellbeing and mental health of every child. Through our PSHE curriculum and wider school approach, we aim to equip our pupils with the knowledge, skills and values they need to lead happy, healthy and fulfilling lives—both now and in the future.
Our teaching of PSHE follows the SCARF scheme (Safety, Caring, Achievement, Resilience, Friendship), which provides a comprehensive and progressive programme from EYFS to Year 6. Lessons cover key areas such as physical health, emotional literacy, healthy relationships, online safety and economic understanding. Children are encouraged to reflect, discuss and build positive habits that support their wellbeing and relationships with others.
Beyond lessons, we are growing a whole-school culture of wellbeing. Our children take part in events such as Children’s Mental Health Week, Anti-Bullying Week and Safer Internet Day, which deepen their understanding of personal and collective wellbeing.
This year, we have also introduced a team of Wellbeing Champions—pupil representatives from across the school who promote positive mental health, act as role models for kindness and empathy, and encourage all children to speak up and support one another.
Through a strong, values-led approach, we aim for every child at Greens Norton to feel safe, heard and empowered to make positive choices that benefit their own wellbeing and that of their community.
