Design Technology at Greens Norton Primary School

Design and Technology is taught through the Kapow scheme of work and children will be taught three units across the school year which complement our Art curriculum. Each unit is aligned with the National Curriculum. Within each unit, children will design, make and evaluate their product, whilst developing their technical knowledge. Skills and knowledge are progressive and build on the previous year’s learning, from Early Years through the Year 6. Children will also study significant designers and inventors within the units. By the end of their time at Greens Norton, children will have experienced and explored the following key areas of design:

  • Cooking and Nutrition
  • Mechanisms and Mechanical Systems
  • Electrical Systems
  • Digital World
  • Structures
  • Textiles

We believe we have developed a practical and engaging curriculum for all our children, allowing their curious minds to develop key skills and knowledge in Design and Technology.
