Ethos and Values

Recognising its historic foundation, Greens Norton School will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principes of the Church of England, which includes developing respect and tolerance for different ways of life, beliefs and opinions. The school aims to serve its community by providing an education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. We encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith and promote Christian values thorugh the experiences we offer to all our pupils.

The school is constantly striving to build our faith through children’s increased involvement and recognition of being part of the church family. It’s important that the children see themselves as part of the church family, whether it be in church, in school or at home, and that they keep our Christian beliefs and values as a priority in all that they do. We know we are being effective as our children show through their everyday lives that they are accountable to each other and themselves for their actions and behaviours.

The school values have been agreed in consultation with all stakeholders. They are a regular focus of collective worship and links are made to all areas of the curriculum.  Pupils can easily recognise these values and identify how they contribute and influence their daily lives and achievements in a positive way.
Our values are:

  • Friendship - supporting and encouraging each other
  • Respect - caring for our school and each other
  • Responsibility - promoting happiness and being aware of our actions
  • Confidence - believing in yourself
  • Honesty - telling the truth at all times
  • Perseverance - focus on work and not being distracted
